What is Adult Day Health?

Adult day health programs provide needed respite for families who may feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of caring for a loved one with physical, emotional or cognitive disabilities. Attending an adult day health program often delays premature nursing home placement or defrays the high cost of in-home care. Most participants are able to attend under Mass Health, free of charge. While at the program, participants receive medical monitoring, social service support, therapy and socialization opportunities. At the end of the day, they return to their own home in the community.
